Rajah's New Liver

Rajah is a warm, friendly, loving and playful Persian kitten who was born with a faulty liver. The exact name of her condition is "Portosystemic Shunt" and its best described as an abnormal vessel that allows blood from her intestine to bypass her liver. As a result, toxins, proteins, hormones and nutrients absorbed by the intestines also bypass the liver, circulating throughout the body, and resulting in further deterioration of her liver function.

From the moment Rajah was born, she's dealt with stunted growth, poor muscle development, abnormal behaviors such as disorientation, diarrhea, vomiting and seizures. She's been to a number of veterinary specialists in both California and Nevada whom have collectively agreed that surgery is the only option for her survival; or to have any chance at a semi-normal life. Because she's my very first pet and I couldn't have ever imagined such a terrible diagnosis - I never purchased insurance for her. Unfortunately, it's too late now since she has so many pre-existing conditions.

Rajah is incredibly special and has changed my heart in the time I've had her - which doesn't feel long enough, she's not even a year old. Anyone whose met her agrees that her spirit is so unique - she's just full of affection and love. Her current quality of life is extremely poor despite my efforts to do my absolute best for her every day. I'm not one to ask for help and consider myself very prideful in that regard - but this isn't about me and quite frankly, I have no choice!

I have to do what I can to fight for her life. Anything helps and is so very, very appreciated.

Thank you.
