Dear Family, Friends & The Kindest of Hearts,
We hope this email finds you and yours all well. It has been a few years of unexpected events, challenging times, and deep soul-searching for us all.
We have news to share about our dearest Roz. She has been diagnosed with Leukemia which accounts for about 3.5% of all cancers. However, not to be outdone, her diagnosis is rarer, a mixed phenotype acute leukemia. It combines acute myeloid (AML) and acute lymphoblastic (AML) leukemia, representing just 2% to 3% of all acute leukemia cases. It is fast-acting and deadly if not caught early. Roz has been fortunate that her doctors caught wind of it and have taken extraordinary measures to mitigate its effects.
Roz, faced with this rare and fast-acting Leukemia, is undergoing aggressive chemotherapy treatment. The first and second treatment has been challenging, yet she keeps her bold attitude and makes people laugh all around her. She is even rocking the shaved head look like only Roz can. I love this quote from her, "Life is but a journey and it feels so good to help those who need it the most." Putting others first, she has had candid conversations with individuals on her care team and referred several to Doctors for treatment of their health challenges.
However, we feel that it is time for our beloved Roz to be put first, and it is time that she receives our help. We have created this gofundme page for her to help meet and soften the financial hardship of her rare type of leukemia.
Since she moved to Texas for her dream job a few years ago, she has lived away from family and resides in a state that provides only minimal assistance for the infirmed. Please join us in providing her the financial aid and moral support to help complete her intense chemotherapy regimen and subsequent bone marrow donor transplant procedures.
Whilst no match was found within her family, Roz has found a lifesaving donor match via the bone marrow donor program Gift of Life. Roz does implore those between 18 and 40 to register as a bone marrow donor. With new technology, there is no longer the need for a painful bone marrow extraction procedure (Roz has had five extractions so far and does not wish anyone to ever have one themselves). Today, the Donor process is a questionnaire and a small blood draw for typing and matching. And if matched, the donor receives a shot to stimulate bone marrow stem cell production, and the stem cells are harvested via a simple and painless blood draw. Someone like you became a Donor, and they saved our dear Roz's life. Be a Donor and Save a life too. To register, go to the Gift of Life website at: https://www.giftoflife.org/.
We thank you for your time and consideration, and please continue your prayers for Roz's speedy recovery.
Respectfully,
