Can you help Paul Through His Cancer Treatment & Recovery?

Donation protected
Hey there, Karen and Gillian here. This fundraiser has been created for our darling brother and son, Paul — or Kodish, as some of you know him as — one of the most important humans in our worlds.

His world was recently turned upside down when he was diagnosed with throat cancer. It was a shock for us all. But through it all, Paul has shown a steady strength. With his partner Nat, family and friends by his side, we truly believe he will get through this.

WHO PAUL IS

Some of you will know Paul as family, others as a dear friend or as a fan, and maybe you don't know him at all. Yet here you are, reading this, so however you found this, we're grateful you're here.

Paul is one of those rare people who always shows up and has always had people's backs, including mine and mum's. Now it’s our turn to have his, in any way we can.

Paul has dedicated his life to music, friends, and family — as a drummer, not just as a profession, but as a way to bring joy, energy, and connection to others. Some of you will have seen him perform with Whodini, Apollo 440, Bad Company, Pendulum, DJ Fresh, and more. One particularly special moment for him came in 1998, when, with Apollo, he got to play with Jean-Michel Jarre in front of the Eiffel Tower, with Paris still buzzing after France’s World Cup win only 2 days earlier. You’ll find the entire gig on YouTube!

His work and his passion are one and the same. For now, though, this has had to be put on hold while he channels all that energy into his healing.

There's no talk of fights or battles here; we're all about healing and recovery.

WHAT HE’S FACING

Cancer treatment and recovery are serious and demanding. The road ahead involves intensive treatment, which has already started, and Paul is undergoing weeks of accelerated radiotherapy. He's got 35 sessions of Sunshine Therapy, and he's already had 14 zaps.

Despite having lost his sense of taste for the time being, he's doing really well, but it's likely to get tougher as the zaps get more intense. Even knowing this, he’s meeting it with determination and an optimistic outlook, taking things one day at a time and keeping his focus firmly on healing.

What Paul is also struggling with right now is financial stress — with treatment and many months of recovery ahead, he can't work, and the stress is very, very real. So anything we can all do to relieve this stress, even easing it a little, could make a meaningful difference to his recovery.

IT TAKES A VILLAGE (or as Paul calls it, a CREW)

This experience is a powerful reminder that none of us is meant to carry the heavy sh*t alone. So, with grace and humility, Paul is leaning on his crew.

Whether that’s a donation, sharing this page, or simply popping by for a visit — every gesture means the world. Bonus points if you bring a dog! — Anyone who knows Paul knows how much joy they bring him, and right now, that kind of joy goes a long way.

WHAT THE FUNDS WILL COVER

Your support will help with:

• Lost income while he's unable to work
• Travel to frequent treatment appointments
• Medications and specialist care which are not covered by the province.

THANK YOU

If you’ve got this far, thank you. It means the world to us. Paul’s only job right now is healing.

Every donation — truly, no matter the size, whether one-off or a monthly offering — lightens the load and helps him focus on getting better.

If you’re able, please donate — even a small contribution makes a real difference right now. And if you can’t, that’s ok too, you can still help by spreading the word and sharing this page with your people. Thank you for being part of Paul’s village and helping show him he’s not doing this alone.

And yes — Paul will almost certainly be embarrassed by all of this, which means we’ve probably got the tone just right.

Thanks for taking the time to be here.
Karen and Gillian :)
