Raising £8,500 to build a mosque in The Gambia

As we grieve the passing of a precious soul, our dearly beloved mother Hameeda Bano we have received an overwhelming response from friends and family asking us where to donate for our mother.
We have decided to set up this page to raise funds to build a mosque in a small village called Kerr Demba based in the Central River Region of The Gambia, as a Sadaqah Jariyah in our beloved mother’s name.
This is an opportunity for everyone who donates to gain countless rewards both now and in the future for the thousands of people who will pray salah in this mosque in years to come. Insha’Allah.
Uthman ibn Affan reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “Whoever builds a mosque for Allah, Allah will build for him a house like it in Paradise.” (Saḥīḥ al-Bukhārī 450, Ṣaḥīḥ Muslim 533)
Our mother was a remarkable woman, driven by self-determined values, she was the most generous and caring of souls providing love and compassion to all. Religion was fundamental to her, she strived passionately to please Allah SWT, always helping the poor and needy and inspiring others to do the same. As such it was always our mothers’ desire to build a mosque for those most in need in a third world country.
Consequently, we have established contact with a trustworthy and reliable source on the ground in The Gambia. The source has personally facilitated the building of 20 mosques in the most remote and poverty-stricken villages in The Gambia.

The mosque will use Solar power for the fans, lights and sound system. It will be built with cement and concrete and will be completely tiled with carpet fitted for the entire prayer hall.
The cost to build this mosque is £8,500. 100% of your donations will go towards the construction of this mosque. Any surplus monies will be spent on maintenance of the mosque. Once the target amount has been reached the construction process will begin and will take up to 6 months to complete. We anticipate the capacity of this mosque will be for approximately 200 people.
