Raising Nicholas - In loving memory of Amy Barker

On Saturday, 2nd December 2023, Amy Barker and her beautiful unborn baby boy, Marcus unexpectedly and tragically passed away.

Amy was 36 years old and 36 weeks pregnant with Marcus, already being a devoted mother to a doting two-and-a-half-year-old boy, Nicholas.

A loved partner of Clint, an adored daughter and daughter-in-law, a cherished sister and sister-in-law, a wonderful friend, and a brillant Nurse Practitioner.

Amy was a beautiful and compassionate soul who touched the lives of everyone she met. She dedicated her 15-year career to helping the most vulnerable of babies as a nurse in the Grace NICU at Westmead Children’s Hospital. As a senior member within the specialised newborn intensive care unit, Amy looked after hundreds of babies with complex medical conditions, while also caring for their families in their hardest times.

Losing a wife and mother in such tragic circumstances is not only overwhelming but also comes with an incredible financial burden for both Nicholas and Clint’s future. Amy made an incredible difference in the world and the lives of many, as evidenced by the large number of people who have reached out and asked how they can help during this tragic time.

Amy’s entire world was her children, and we hope that through your generous donations, we can help support Amy’s fiancé Clint as he raises their 2.5-year-old Nicholas as they both navigate life and as Nicholas grows up without his Mum and baby brother.

I (Bianca Knott) have organised this fundraiser on behalf of many of Amy’s friends and work colleagues as a tangible way for others to offer assistance and support to Clint, Amy’s fiancée, to help him financially in the raising of their son Nicholas.
