Raising money for Retina UK

Do you want to join me in making a difference? I shall be taking part in the Shropshire Mud Run on 27th April, along with some family members for support. I will be raising money in aid of Retina UK who support those with inherited sight conditions. Every donation will help. Thank you in advance for your contribution to this cause that means so much to me.

I have retinitis pigmentosa and are declared legally blind. RP is a rare inherited eye condition and currently there is no treatment or cure available. So I would like to raise funds to support the current research.

I was diagnosed with Retinitus Pigmentosa back in 2020. Already my eyesight has deteriorated at a concerning rate. RP is a degenerative condition and affects people differently. For me right now I have around 8-15% left of my peripheral vision, but am totally blind at night. Imagine not being able to see the stars! I have recently began my cane training to hopefully give me more confidence when out and about. I have slowly come to terms with my fate as my eyesight will only worsen. I treasure each day and love seeing my children grow into strong beautiful girls, this cannot be taken for granted! Raising money to support a great charity enables research to find that cure. A cure or treatment means my children, or my children’s children will not have to suffer like myself and other family members. There is hope!

There is currently no available cure or treatment. Retina UK provides information and support for all those affected by an inherited retinal dystrophy.
