Dear family and friends,

I have started this GoFundMe page

because I need to purchase a new manual wheelchair. And I cannot do this on my own, as many of you know I'm on a fixed income due my disability.

The frustrating part is, I am unable to get assistance from my medical insurance because they have already purchased my power chair, and by law they can only pay for one or the other. Therefore, the cost for a new manuel will be coming out of pocket.

The chair I now have is no longer useable. Just recently, the left, front tire & its housing broke off. It is just shy of 10 years old. (5 years over its durability expectancy) It has undergone a lot of ware and tear. Taking inventory of all things that are wrong with the chair and the parts needing to be replaced, it would be more feasible to just purchase a whole new chair. (For example, just to replace all four wheels will cost over $800)

Not to mention, both chairs are as equally important to my physical need. They are customized to fit body structure, maximize support, and prevent any further damage to my body. They also provide a sense of independence in my personal & social life.

My power chair gives me the abilityto: Use public transportation. Go to appointments. Go to church. Or just get out on my own without putting my body under too much physical stress.

My manual chair gives me the ability to: Travel back & forth to visit family & friends. Travel in a person's personal vehicle without worry. And get around my house effortlessly, as I live in tight quarters.

I will be using a standard (hospital type) wheelchair for the time being. It is my prayer & hope to reach my GoFundMe goal within next 2 to 3 months.

For total transparency I have included photos of broken wheelchair parts, new wheelchair, backrest needed, and subtotal of new wheelchair. Goal has also been set to cover any taxes, shipping, and GoFundMe fees.

Any donations big or small are equally appropriated.
