- This is the story of the great Paul Ulap Fairless born 23rd April 1962 he is a die hard Sunderland fan for over 50 years he was diagnosed in April last year just after his 63rd birthday which was a big shock as many thought he was invincible it started only at early stage 2 so we had no doubt of him beating it we think he originally obtained it back in October / November 2024 a whole 5/6 months before we found out he did 8 counts of chemotherapy over space till December 2025 then they had brought the bad news that it wasn’t working it broke us really and it was extended for another 4 counts up until March time he also had a few back and home hospital trips which worried us a lot from April to December after that January time he was called into hospital over being in constant pain and the news just kept getting worse he stayed in hospital this time for a whole month which was the longest and worst so far as our entire world broke down he was waiting for another stent operation in Durham for over 3 weeks until they finally got him in to Freemans hospital he had also missed his chemotherapy for over a month due to lack of energy being in too much pain then in Newcastle they finally got him sorted but on the 11th February they told us there was no more operation / pedicures they could do and the cancer had gone way too far stage 4 and he only has time left which broke me and everyone I’m only 15 years old my self going through all this plus other childhood deaths it’s horrible but we know it’s not long left for him and that’s what I can’t wrap my head around he has lost over 2stone in weight barley eating never leaving the house can barley walk not much smiling sleeping all day constantly in pain and it hurts us so much seeing him being like this as he is the best dad anyone could ever ask for and I know we have not always had the best relationship but this last year has brought us the closest ever I have done everything I can to get everything sorted for him got him a signed Sunderland top from all the players a personal shout out on bbc radio Newcastle a video message from Chris rigg the player and finally got it sorted for me and him to watch the Sunderland vs forest game in person on the 24th April to meet all the players sit in the box and enjoy plus hopefully they get the win but I am so grateful and happy that I can do all this for my dad because for everything he has done for me he has had hundreds of thousands of views on social media plus tens of thousands of likes I even showed my support to him and everyone else who is battling cancer and ran 5k’s for ten days in March raising £344 which insane I have had the opportunity to get all of this done and is only the start I will do everything to help anyone not just my dad I love use all and I hope use can all help get this goal sorted as will help my family out so much my dad really deserves this he is the best Granda dad son brother uncle cousin you could ever ask for thank you all for everything and god bless everyone love use all amen
