Raising money to help make memories

On Monday we got news that has completely shattered our family. My sister Rachel Browne has been diagnosed with Motor Neurone disease (MND)

 

I had very little knowledge about MND. Now I know that it is a disease that affects your motor neurones in the brain and spinal cord. These nerves tell your muscles what to do. When they stop working properly this leads the muscles to weaken, stiffen and waste. MND can affect how you walk, talk, eat, drink and breathe. MND is life-shortening and there is no cure.

 

MND can take your life within months. Some people manage to live with MND for a few years. There is a lot of research being done and clinical trials taken place but the process is lengthy and there is no guarantee of any solutions or treatments.

 

All people who have the condition will experience muscle function loss from onset, until they cannot breathe sufficiently, and life ends.

 

I cant even begin to describe how I feel, everyday I wake up and hope it was all a big dream but the reality sets in again. The last thing i want to be doing right now is writing about this but my sister deserves to make memories and live the best life she can while she is able to.

 

 

 

This is a picture of my children (her nieces and nephew). They are her world, they adore her in everyway and I cant even begin to imagine how they will feel. Rachel is only 33, she had her whole life ahead of her and it has been stolen by this horrendous disease.

 

My sister would love to go away with the whole family while she is able to, she is also going to be on considerably less money due to not being able to work.
