I have chosen to raise money with an eye watering skydive for Anthony Nolan after my amazing grandad and best friend’s battle with leukaemia and bone marrow cancer over the past ten years came to an end. Stem cell transplants have been proven to be the most innovative, successful and painless ways towards fighting cancers along with autoimmune diseases and loads more! Arguably much better than alternatives as it doesn’t rip away a persons dignity in their final months.

I thought what better way to celebrate and remember my grandad than do yet another barmy thing that would make him jump out of his chair and call me an idiot. A skydive!

Any contribution to this charity would be greatly appreciated but more than anything I think the education of learning the importance of stem cell donations needs to be more widely known. I urge everyone I know to watch the video from Anthony Nolan to see the importance they have made to so many people’s lives over the past 50 years!

Even better, look into if you could be a stem cell donor! Anyone between the ages of 16-30 can join the register and you could end up changing someone else’s life as well as your own in the process.

My grandad was an incredibly generous, patient, kindhearted and loving man. I have never met someone who embodies a true heart of gold quite like Grandad Ken.

I’d love nothing more than to be able to hold his hand one more time on a Saturday morning in our weekly family debriefs, whilst we both take the extra-long way trying to tell the short version of a story.

Cancer is an awful disease and we don’t want my grandad to be remembered for any of it; only the good things that he offered to the world. What better way than to fight back by raising money and awareness for what could be a truly life changing approach to autoimmune/cancer research.
