Raising money for travel and expenses for ICD operation
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Oliwia. I’m 14 years old. I see the cardiologists in GOSH (Great Ormond Street Hospital in London) since I’m 2yo. I’ve been born with cardiomyopathy, and the hole in the heart. When I was little my cardiomyopathy was diagnosed as restrictive (the worst version of it, when the heart doesn’t relax and it needs replacement with a new one very quickly). When I was little, I had been seeing the cardiologist doctors every 3 months. Luckily it wasn’t developing quickly, so my appointments decreased to every 6 months since I was a bit
older. Sometimes I have to have catheter procedure to check the pressure in the lungs too.
Few years ago I have been diagnosed with the other version of cardiomyopathy which is called hypertrophic. Now I have 2 different types, and apparently hypertrophic helps the restrictive version.
Last year I have been informed that I should have ICD implanted in case my heart stops (cardiac arrest). Now I
am in the high risk of arrhythmia. My operation should take place next month, and I’m going to be in the hospital for few days. The operation will
last for 6 hours including other procedures have to be done. I am stressed so do my parents.
Because we don’t live in London, we have to travel there for every appointment. It is very expensive, and it was more often this year than ever before. I had to go to psychology clinic too for 6 weeks, to help me with my operation worries. Plus all the additional appointments and exercise tests etc.
We are only asking for the support around my operation and after care.
Thank you from all my HEART ❤️
