Raising Money for Tom's son #TeamFuqua
Donation protected
WEMBA '22 one of our very own classmates, Tom Hash, had to take a leave of absence from our program this term because his teenage son, Thomas, was just diagnosed with a brain tumor earlier this month. His son had surgery on May 3rd and unfortunately the tumor was malignant. Tom's whole family has a long road ahead to fight this thing. The good news is that they are already scheduled for radiation therapy in Philly at the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia at the end of this month. Tom will be up there with his son, away from their home in Raleigh, for 6 weeks.
When Tom told our team right before Term 3 kick off we were heart broken but we immediately wanted to think of something that we could do to try and make lift even a tiny bit easier. After reaching out to Tom and suggesting that a Door Dash gift card could make meals a little easier and less of a hassle he agreed. We are asking for small donations from across our cohort to help Tom and his family through this difficult time.
For those that didn't have a chance to meet him, Tom is an awesome person and embodies the #teamfuqua spirit. Tom was a Duke undergrad, former Navy, and currently works in Raleigh as a musculoskeletal radiologist. Although he'd never ask for it, we want to make sure that Tom always knows that WEMBA '22 and the Duke family is here for him.
As Tom's original Team 1 we were already going to put together a small gift, but figured we should harness the power of the entire cohort. If you are so inclined please consider a small donation that will be used to purchase a DoorDash gift card and will be delivered to Tom and his family in Raleigh.
Thoughts and prayers for Tom and his son Thomas for a complete recovery.
