Raising money for the Rene E. Wuillermin Nursing Scholarship

Hi everyone--

Thanks for visiting my page. For those of you who don't know me, my name is Sara Wuillermin, and I am the daughter of Rene. Last year, we lost our mother to early-onset Alzheimer', who was diagnosed 18 years before when she was just 54 years old, and passed away at the age of 71, two days after her birthday.

Alzheimer's is a cruel disease that slowly takes parts of the person you love away in small increments. While experiencing my mom's journey with this disease, we watched as she no longer was able to independently care for herself, could no longer speak, and did not know who we were. Despite all the parts of her that were lost, one of the fundamental parts of herself she remembered and held onto the longest was that she was a nurse, which was one of her proudest, most cherished aspects of her identity.

After her passing last year, our cousin set up a scholarship in her honor at the local high school. This award was to be given to a graduating student interested in going into nursing school. We were so touched by the incredible gesture and intend to continue this award again this year.

With her birthday and death anniversary closely approaching, I wanted to create this Go Fund Me in case anyone else was interested in contributing to the scholarship in her honor.
