Raising Money For Shay’s Multiple Myeloma

Donation protected
As I write this with a heavy heart, I would like to announce that I was diagnosed with a rare blood cancer called Multiple Myeloma, which is a cancer of plasma cells. This happens when the plasma cells grow out of control and become cancerous. Because of this, Multiple Myeloma causes a multitude of issues including low blood counts, bone & calcium problems, infections, and kidney problems.

In December 2016, I was admitted into the hospital for two weeks with numerous tests done before my final diagnosis was determined. At that time my kidneys were failing and I had to be put on dialysis immediately. Once I was released from the hospital I had to continue my dialysis treatments for 4 hours a day, 3 times a week for 6 months straight. However, I was determined to get off of dialysis, so by the grace of God and my strength, I was able to accomplish that goal. Unfortunately, getting off of dialysis was only half the battle.

Over the last 2+ years, I have been going through different cycles of chemotherapy treatments. All have worked for a while but eventually exhausted. Due to the cancer cells becoming immune to the previous infusions, it has become more aggressive in multitudes. Currently, I am on a new chemotherapy infusion that seems to be working thus far. However, after receiving a second opinion, I was advised to only continue treatment for the next 3 months to see where my levels are. And if at that time my levels are stabilized (or in remission), then I will be a possible candidate for the Bone Marrow Transplant. Which can be an exceptionally effective way to help with my cancer to keep it in remission or, at the very least, controlled.

As most of my family & friends know, I do not typically ask for help unless I am in dire need and have exhausted all options. However, at this time, my medical expenses have tremendously increased!! Due to the fact that I am constantly going to the hospital for doctor appointments, chemotherapy infusions and lab work. I also see a Naturopathic Doctor who helps keep me balanced by offsetting the side effects of my chemotherapy treatments. And overall health, to help elongate my life to surpass the survival rate.

Due to this new transition in my life, my entire lifestyle has changed as well, especially when it comes to my eating habits. I am now strictly organic and vegan with only having limited options on what I can partake. Which, unfortunately, is very expensive but truly conducive to my well-being.

With that said, any amount that anyone can contribute WILL BE greatly appreciated. The money will go towards medical expenses, organic & vegan food supplies, holistic care, and or any other miscellaneous expenses that may occur.
