Raising money for Sammy Atkins and Royal Marsden
Donation protected
Hi my name is Verity. I learnt this month that our good friends son and my sons best friend has been diagnosed with Rhabdomyosarcoma. This is a rare soft tissue cancer and the prognosis is variable.
Imagine working for your GCSE’s and then being told you might not be well enough to sit them, that you have to avoid every day events, seeing friends, meals out to protect your immune system while you go through this violent treatment.
This is a boy that lives for football. Plays both Saturdays and Sundays at a great level and loves every minute. This has been ripped away from him and he will not be able to play for the foreseeable.
Imagine as parents being told your son has cancer, not being able to tell you he will be ok, breaking your world. Making you become the strongest people but inside your breaking every day.
I want to be able to give to a family who’s world has been turned upside down!! A family that give their all to their friends, family and the community when they can.
I don’t want your donations to be given without me doing something for them. So on the 2nd September 2023 I will take part in my first ever ultra marathon covering 100k in 24 hours. This is going to be tough, on top of everything in my life, I will need to train hard running 5 times a week building up a distance to at least 30 miles.
But anything I go through will not be on par with what Sammy is going through and his siblings and mum and dad.
Im grateful for every donation that you can spare, in agreement with the Atkins family I will be splitting the total between them and The Royal Marsden Teenage Cancer Unit.
