Hello, our names are Angela, Eve and Matt. We are fundraising in the hope of saving our Greyhound, Mia. Mia is an a retired racer from Kansas City, Missouri. Mia has ran in over 200 races and won first in 39 of them.
In 2018 we adopted Mia at the age of five from Greyhound Pet Adoption Northwest, an organization helping to provide “forever homes” for retired greyhounds. Since adopting her, we have come to love Mia and her breed more than we could ever have known, even adopting another retired greyhound, her brother, Magic.
Almost a month ago we noticed Mia was favoring her right front leg. After sometime we took her into our veterinarian. After many tests and X-rays we were informed she has an Osteosarcoma, a fast, aggressive bone cancer in her right radius (wrist). We were told she had three months (now two) to live if we did nothing and treated her pain. However if we elected treatment we were told she could live up to another year, maybe longer. Chemotherapy and amputation of the leg is one option, the other being radiation and bone regrowth therapy. Both treatments range around the same price of $10000.00. This price unfortunately is too high for us to come up with alone as we exhausted what funds we had on the tests finding out what was wrong with her, a sum reaching a total of almost $3000.00.
We are humbly asking for any donations at this time in a last ditch effort to save our baby. Mia is not just a pet for us but family. We greatly appreciate you taking the time to consider our cause.
Sincerely,
The Goodlings
