Climbing Ama Dablam for Macmillan, Wings for life
Donation protected
All donations will be split 50:50 between Macmillan Cancer Support and the Wings for Life foundation.
Last month, I travelled to the Everest region of Nepal to climb Ama Dablam, an incredibly famous and technically difficult mountain, to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support and the Wings for Life foundation. Standing at 6812m tall, it is a considerable mountaineering challenge and easily the most beautiful mountain in all of the Himalayan mountain ranges. This GoFundMe page is to raise the final £1000 of the £6000 fundraising target.
Macmillan are 98% funded by voluntary donations so fundraising is essential to make sure they can continue to deliver the support people living with cancer (and their families) need. Additionally, they contribute to ongoing cancer research as in order to provide their services and advocacy where it is most needed, they need to know and understand the numbers, needs, and experiences of people living with cancer.
Wings for Life is a not for profit nationally recognised foundation for spinal cord research. They use donations to support promising research projects and clinical studies worldwide to find a cure for spinal cord injuries. Because science agrees: injured nerve cells are capable of regeneration. I want to support them in achieving this goal.
Ama Dablam is one of the most technically tricky mountains in the Himalayas and presented a real physical and psychological challenge. This was by far the biggest mountain I have taken on yet and have posts and highlites on my Instagram account. @thelarsypan.
Thank you in advance for all of your support and well wishes and most importantly, for helping me and my team raise money for two important causes.
