My name is Isabelle, and I’m trying to raise funds for my mom. She has been becoming more and more sick since October of 2020, and as of right now, she is the sickest she’s ever been. Recently, she was diagnosed with Papillary Thyroid Carcinoma with the BRAF V600E gene mutation (metastatic). Right now, we have one source of income, my stepfather. He is currently working two jobs, and we still do not have enough money to provide adequate food and healthcare for himself and my mother. My mom is on Medicaid, but it’s not going to cover the costs of her surgery. Surgery for her thyroid is not the only surgery she needs. She needs extensive sinus surgery, which has been put off due to her cancer diagnosis. She needs surgery in her stomach because of her Stage 4 Gastroparesis, which means she has a paralyzed stomach. She needs a hysterectomy due to extensive bleeding during her menstruation, which causes her to lose large amounts of blood, so much so she has needed many blood transfusions. She needs to consume more iron, but because of her stomach condition, she can’t. She has retinopathy, which is causing her to go blind. She gets light flashes randomly throughout the day, and sometimes blood vessels pop behind her eyes, which causes scar tissue and is the reason she is going blind. She also has cataracts and needs monthly shots in her eyes, which causes an inability to see for the rest of the day. Since 2020, she’s been experiencing Peripheral Neuropathy, which causes severe pain even when resting, balance, and mobility issues. She also needs a large amount of dental work done because her Gastroparesis causes her to throw up, and the stomach acid from her vomit affects her teeth.
