Raising Money for Jade's Surgery

Hi, my name is Ethan, I'm a 4th year Animal Biology student at the University of Guelph.

On Tuesday, Nov. 10th at 2pm my 8-month-old pup Jade got hit by a SUV driving 40-50km/hr speed on Edinburgh Rd., near the Chancellors Way intersection. Jade saw a dog across the street, dashed right out from the front lawn, made it straight across to greet the dog, but it was on the way back across when the car ran her over. I blame myself for not being careful and cautious enough before letting her out on the lawn.

Jade was very lucky that pedestrians, drivers and neighbours stopped and came out to help carry her from the road to the sidewalk. They comforted her and contacted the emergency clinic while I was in a state of shock from having just witnessed the crash happen right in front of me.

Jade is now being hospitalized at the Ontario Veterinary College Clinic for a few days to monitor her respiratory system as the vets diagnosed tachycardia, pneumothorax and lung contusion. From the crash, also came with multiple external wounds as well as two fractures on her left back leg that need to undergo surgery. Jade is at the moment, according to the vets, stable and breathing well, but not able to support herself to walk to potty.

The clinic is asking for $2000-$3000 for the ICU hospitalization and $7000-$8000 for her surgery that is going to happen if not tomorrow Nov.11th, then the day after. This is costing me around $10,000 so far, not including any post-operation medications or potential further complications.

I am extremely thankful for everyone who helped out my pup yesterday and emotionally supported me throughout the day. I am now asking for some financial help to pay for Jade's medical bill and any amount is appreciated, truly. Let's hope Jade has a speedy and healthy recovery.
