Raising money for Equine Pathways Australia.
Do you want to join me in making a difference? I'm raising money in aid of Equine Pathways Australia Ltd and every donation will help. This fundraiser is apart of the Magic Millions initiative for the Women in Racing wildcard into the MM OTT Cup Final in January at the Polo & Showjumping. It is a $50,000 class for thoroughbreds only, an amazing showcase of how versatile this breed is and a glimpse into how special their lives can be after racing
Thank you in advance for your contribution to this cause that means so much to me.
Equine Pathways Australia (EPA) developed from the real experience of those with physical disabilities who seek to personally develop and improve their life opportunities and wellbeing. Their philosophy is to offer the chance for all people with disabilities to participate in a community-based program, sharing their life experiences and goals by exploring para-equestrian activities. There mission is accomplished through integrated health, community and sporting participation programs and the identification and creation of vocational pathways.
Equine Pathways Australia has played a crucial role in helping ex jockey now para equestrian rider Kate Nipperess in her goal of representing Australia at the 2024 Paris Paralympic Games.
Some information about Kate and her journey -
Horses have been my life for as long as I can remember.
I began riding at aged 4 when I started training in dressage & as I grew up I competed extensively in various Equestrian disciplines. A career in horses was inevitable for me & once I found the racing industry I was in my element. I had a successful career in racing for over a decade, working as a track work rider, strapper, jockey & in pre-training & breaking in.
I intended on pursuing a career as a racehorse trainer but on July 28th, 2016, I was involved in a head on collision at trackwork with a loose horse.. I broke my back, neck, shoulder, most of my ribs, both my lungs collapsed & I was knocked unconscious. I was left a Paraplegic & reliant on a wheelchair.
I lost everything I loved & lived for in a split second.. or so I thought.
A few years later I was lucky enough to come into contact with the Australian Para-Equestrian coach, Julia Battams, who runs the charity Equine Pathways Australia (EPA), which assists people like me in returning to the saddle. EPA has enabled me to return to doing what I love & I now compete in Para Dressage.
I have recently acquired a beautiful horse, SW Cruiser, who has partnered me to success at many competitions this year, including winning our first FEI competition after only five rides together.
We have recently been selected for the Australian Para-Equestrian Gen Next Squad which puts us in contention for selection for the Paris Paralympics next year
Equine Pathways Australia is a non for profit organisation will all proceeds going directly into helping Equine Pathways Australia continue their amazing work in the para-equestrian community.
