Greetings family and friends. I would like your support in helping me accomplish my latest endeavor. This Spring I plan on applying for the Membership Selection Process of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity Incorporated. It includes a series of interviews, exams, and applications to become a member. I will use the money from your financial support for dues and fees to become a member. Omega Psi Phi Fraternity Incorporated is a historically African American Fraternity that was founded on November 17th, 1911 at Howard University by three undergraduate students with the help of their faculty advisor. Since its founding, the organization has charted over 750 undergraduate and graduate chapters. The organization is also the first fraternal organization at a historically black university.
My experience being around and interacting with Omega Men has persuaded me in becoming a member. The fraternity's cardinal principles are Manhood, Scholarship, Perseverance, and Uplift. I believe I exhibit these four characteristics of Omega on a daily basis. As you all know my father and uncle are both members of Omega Psi Phi and they both had a major influence on me. From my experience, they both have displayed the true characteristics of "Manhood".
Additionally, Omega Psi Phi's motto is "Friendship is essential to the soul." There have been many instances where I've displayed true friendship with my peers. I firmly believe in having a true friend and it is of great importance to every individual. The time I've been spending and getting to know more Omega Men over the years, these qualities have adapted to my personality and allowed me to display them on a consistent basis.
With these funds, it will not only help support but also cover national, district, and chapter dues and fees. The name of the Chapter that I am interested in being a member of is Nu Pi chapter.
For those not familiar here's a brief narrative of Omega Psi Phi Nu Pi chapter: Nu Pi was charted on March 9th, 1974 in Joliet, Illinois. A group of men who lived in the city of Joliet, Illinois would see each other on the street and would greet each other as Fraternity brothers. At the time Joliet, Illinois was predominantly a blue collared town, and being an African American professional man in the city at the time was not the norm. However, these men developed a very close bond based upon friendship, family, and spirituality. These brothers truly believed and lived the creed of "friendship is essential to the soul."
I thank you all for your help and support and any amount will be greatly appreciated.
