Scott Schroder is a loving husband and father of two living in the Dallas ,TX metro area and he is in a current battle for his life against cancer.
We are raising money to help Scott pay for at least 2 months’ worth of chemotherapy medication while he and his wife deal with insurance issues. The Schroder's have insurance but their insurance company (Aetna) is declining to pay for the medication, Gleevec. This is not an experimental drug but is approved for use by the FDA for Scott’s type of cancer.
The Schroder's have filed appeal after appeal and are now being asked to submit it all again. His wife Stacey has called the drug manufacturer, Novartis, to seek assistance to only be turned away. All this while Scott goes without his life saving medication. Cancer is an expensive illness even with insurance. It is financially devastating when they won’t pay at all. They don't have the out of pocket money to pay themselves forever and Scott is in need of the medication PRONTO.
Scott has been without it for several months now and his tumors are active. This is an urgent situation. If you know the Schroder's, you know they are good Christian people who will give the shirt off their backs to help all others. Please help them in their time of need.
UPDATE: We met (and beat) our initial goal of $8,000 last year but the insurance company is playing games again. I have re-done the amount to $14,000 so we can at the very least get enough for them to purchase the medication for thirty days while they fight Big Pharma. Every penny helps!!
