Hello, my name is Destinee and I’m making this fundraiser with the help of my manager Brett to help our general manager Jeff save his best friend Brady. Brady is a 9 year old English cream Labrador retriever who Jeff loves and adores more than words can explain. Jeff has a tough exterior but the moment you mention how his dog is doing he immediately takes out his phone to show off pictures of Brady. Both me and my other manager Brett do the same with our pets. It was absolutely devastating and scary when his baby boy became lethargic and lifeless compared to his usual personality. On Christmas Eve instead of spending time with Brady and the rest of his family, Brady was spending it with strangers in an emergency animal hospital. He spent multiple days there being tested and treated, eventually finding out that Brady has been diagnosed with IMHA. I had a dog years ago that also had IMHA, which is another reason I feel compelled to try and help in any way I can. IMHA can be treated but not cured, but the amount of money it has already taken to find out what is wrong with him and to treat him so far already has costed up to $9,000. I understand, when my dog was diagnosed with the same thing it was even more expensive
because of all the treatment and constant medications and further check ups she continuously needed in order to live comfortably for her remaining years. She was able to live happily and comfortably like the way she did before. It not only gave us the remaining years we cherished with her, but also the clarity of knowing these moments were going to be all we had left and we made the most of them with her. Being able to raise money for Jeff towards saving his beautiful boy and giving him these moments of life to cherish (as long as Brady continues to be medicated) is what they both deserve. Suddenly saying goodbye to his long time best friend and companion is a soul crushing experience, all because of not being able to afford it. The amount of money it’ll continue to cost Jeff to help Brady live comfortably and happy through his disorder is jaw dropping. It’s cruel to think vets could charge so much but it’s reality. It cost money to save him and it costs money to put him down. It’s not fair and it’s heartbreaking. Though Jeff has paid what he has to take care of Brady until now, it’s a horrible feeling to know that he’s going to need to make a decision of what to do long term. He seems to be holding on to faith now but trying to choose between his best friend who’s really a family member to him and the cost of surviving in his own life is… well more than words can explain without the heartbreaking truth of reality. If Brady wouldn’t have a happy life style and would still be hurting through life, it would be a different situation and outlook on what to do. The fact that Brady can and hopefully will continue to live happily and comfortably through his time here is motivation to keep on trying to help raise money for his treatment. I’m reaching out on here asking for help from anyone who understands the pain and cruelty of vet bills to find it in their hearts to consider donating or even just sharing his story incase anyone could help. Thank you for taking the time to read this and we hope to surprise jeff with the kindness and compassion people still have in this world for others. Thank you again.
