While my mom was clearing out my late grandmother, Nina’s, house in Oklahoma, she was hit with unexpected and severe stomach pain. What was thought to be an obstruction ended up being her small intestine pinched inside a hernia.

She has had to have over 40cm of damaged small intestine removed, and is now currently in a medical-induced coma waiting to see if even more will be needed to be removed.

My mom is one of the nicest and selfless people I know, who is always putting her friends, family, and students before herself. I am hoping the community she has built and helped flourish will come together and help her in her time of need.

We are asking for donations to help my parents travel, hotel, and medical expenses. What was planned to be a short stay in Oklahoma, is looking like it will end up being a 3+ week stay. After her surgeries she will need time to recover and then go through physical therapy before being able to come back home to California.
