Raising money for baby loss awareness week 9.10.24-15.10.24

Raising money for Baby Loss Awareness Week (October 09th to 15th)

Myself (Kim) and Charn both work as dental nurses at Knowle Smile spa and we have decided to raise as much money as possible for a local charity called the Lily Mae foundation.
We will be doing this by cutting off a proportion of our hair (12+ inches each) for charitable donations! This will be taking place on the 28/09/24- 4:15pm at Simon Paul hair and beauty in Knowle, and will be shown live on Instagram.

The hair that we cut off will also be donated to the Little Princess Trust a charity that provides free real hair wigs to children and young people, who have lost their own hair through cancer treatment or other conditions.

My story
I was 18 weeks pregnant and suddenly my waters broke pre prematurely known as (PPROM) I was in and out of hospital during this time with our daughter still alive. At 19 weeks and 1 day I unfortunately went into early labour and proceeded to deliver our gorgeous daughter Beau. Horrifically we were unable to do anything to save baby Beau’s life as she was just too young. She was born alive and was simply angelic her little heart continued to beat for 2 hours until she passed away peacefully.
To have the honour to hold and comfort her for that 2 hour period was nothing short of heart-breaking, but yet filled us with immense pride that she battled on so valiantly!
The care team at Heartlands Hospitals on the Eden Suite was amazing they gave us a little memory box kit complete with teddy bears, key rings, a clay imprint kit, photo frames, ink imprint kit, books and many more items all of which had been donated by the Lily Mae Foundation. We will cherish these items forever and will always hold Beau close to our heart.

Lily Mae foundation
The Lily Mae Foundation work alongside Medical & Healthcare Professionals, other Charities and the All Party Parliamentary Group for Baby loss. They are recognised as the main provider of bereavement support for families who have lost a baby to Stillbirth, Neonatal Death, Miscarriage or Medical Termination in the West Midlands and Warwickshire area.
Not only do they want to support anyone who has suffered the loss of a baby, but they want to raise awareness of how tragically common the loss of a baby is. Most people don’t realise that Stillbirth, Neonatal Death, Miscarriage and Medical Termination devastate the lives of more than 3,500 parents every year. Not only that, the loss of a baby is seen as a taboo subject, so parents are not encouraged to seek the support that they so desperately need. They want to change all that.
They offer, 1-2-1 baby loss groups / support meetings / memory boxes / pregnancy after loss support / rainbow baby groups / parent podcast / support for children.

We want to raise as much money as possible to help The Lily Mae Foundation to continue providing the amazing support they do, so every little bit will help as we know the difference it can make!!
