February 5th, 2025, was an ordinary day for Gerald and Andrea until later that evening. After returning home from work, Gerald stepped out of his car and slipped on ice. Tragically, this wasn’t just a fall with a few aches, bumps, and bruises; this was a life-altering event that would change life for Gerald, Andrea, and their fur babies for quite some time. Gerald would remain lying on the ice without the ability to move. At that moment, he knew this was serious. Gerald was paralyzed from his neck down. Once he was discovered in the driveway, 911 was immediately called, and Gerald was rushed to the hospital where he underwent major spine surgery to remove the unknown bone spur from his neck that dislodged from the fall and caused the paralysis. After several months in the hospital and in rehab, Gerald began his slow but steady recovery.

As we all know, healing takes time, and medical bills can add up quickly. With the number of lives/families Gerald and Andrea have touched in general and with their fur babies who have brought so many families together, we all want to help make a positive impact on their lives during this challenging time.
