Raising Hope and Support for Daniel After a Massive Stroke

Donation protected
My name is Daniel Doyle Jr., and I’m humbly asking for help to save my father, Daniel Doyle Sr., who suffered a catastrophic medical emergency on September 29th — a massive stroke that changed our lives forever.

He had just returned from giving a ride to an elderly neighbor recovering from hip surgery when he suddenly collapsed inside our community clubhouse. He was unresponsive and without oxygen for nearly ten minutes before emergency services arrived. Doctors later confirmed it was a right thalamic infarct, leaving him with devastating and lasting brain damage.

My father spent two weeks in the ICU on full life support — a ventilator, feeding tube, and heavy sedation. Although he’s now awake, it’s been heartbreaking to watch someone who once spent retirement bowling, swimming, and biking lose control of his body and mind. He struggles to eat, take medication, or recognize me his only son caring for him here, while my two sisters live out of state.

My dad has always been my hero. He coached soccer for my sisters and I, taught me how to ride a motorcycle, and even shared my first beer with me. He showed me how to be kind, resilient, and to always help others — even when no one was watching. It’s an honor to now be a son caring for his father, but the daily grind of this reality has become overwhelming.

I’m asking for help to navigate these uncertain times. My father had no preparation for this tragedy and left behind a complex financial and legal situation for me to unpack. With the strength that comes through prayer — and with every dollar raised — I know we can give him a fighting chance at recovery.

Your support will help cover:

Skilled nursing care and ongoing medical treatment

Housing and living expenses

Legal guidance (he has no will or life insurance)

A financial advisor to help manage bills and keep us afloat

Unexpected costs like wheelchair-accessible transportation, home modifications, and therapy

While my dad was in the ICU, I read Psalm 34 to him every day. The nurses kindly allowed me to pray over him, even welcoming my local pastor to join. Those moments were sacred, and I believe they’re part of why my dad is still here.

From the bottom of my heart, thank you for reading, sharing, and helping us give him the best possible chance to heal. I’ll continue posting updates as they come.
