Hi,
A message we never thought we’d have to write…
As a charity, Hoofbeats is in a position we have never been in before.
For the first time ever, we are facing a debt of almost £5,000.
This has not happened through poor planning or waste, it has happened because this winter has been relentless.
The weather has meant:
• Far more hay and feed than usual
• Larger than normal veterinary bills
• Storm damage to our land and shelters
• Ground conditions that just
haven’t had a chance to recover
Like many in Devon and Cornwall, we have been hit hard but unlike most, we are responsible for the daily care and welfare of a large number of rescued horses and ponies who rely on us completely.
We very rarely ask for help like this.
We always try to manage quietly in the background and putting the horses first no matter what. But this time, we can’t do it alone.
Every penny we receive goes directly back to the horses
Hay
Vet care
Farrier visits
Repairs
Feed
And simply keeping them safe, warm and well
We are not in crisis mode, and we are not closing but we are struggling, and we believe in being honest with the people who support us.
If you are able to help in any way, even a small amount, it would mean more than we can say.
If you can’t donate, simply sharing this post also helps enormously.
And if we are lucky enough to raise more than we need to clear these debts…
Any extra raised will go towards a pallet of mud mats so our horses are not standing in mud, and so the fields have a chance to recover properly and be in better condition ready for the summer.
That isn’t just comfort it’s long-term welfare and prevention of problems such as mud fever, joint strain, and hoof issues.
We don’t take asking lightly.
We know times are hard for everyone.
But if Hoofbeats has ever helped an animal you care about, or if you believe in giving rescued horses a second chance, this is one of those moments where your support truly makes a difference.
If you’re not able to donate, sharing this post helps just as much and costs nothing at all.
Hoofbeats Equine Rehabilitation Sanctuary is a registered charity and all donations are used solely for the care and welfare of our horses and ponies
With heartfelt thanks for reading, caring, and supporting us when we need it most.
Your kindness truly keeps our horses safe.
With love and gratitude,
Sharon and the Hoofbeats team
