On January 26th, Benjamin Bullock passed away early in the morning, leaving a hole in the collective heart of our community.
Ben was a truly special, unforgettable human who left an impact on anyone he met. He was a dynamic and dependable friend to many, and his generosity was especially notable. Every year, he and his parents invited hundreds of people onto their property for the legendary Corn and Concert event that brought in friends and family from as far away as Calgary and California. It brought together a sometimes fraught community, and everyone walked away transformed, ready to pay forward that good feeling.
He elevated everyone around him by showing what radical kindness looks like. He was the kind of guy you could call any time, and he’d be there to help you with whatever you needed. When he played music with his beloved brothers Reuben and Distance, the world fell away and you were left somewhere else, somewhere brighter. He was (and will remain) a beautiful, gentle soul.
For the past year, Ben has been on an incredible path to recovery in which he showed absolute resilience and tenacity. To lose him now adds yet another layer of tragedy.
We can reciprocate all the gifts Ben has given us over the years by helping his family through this difficult transition. As an entrepreneur and small business owner, he did not have the safety net of benefits and life insurance, so we are asking for your donations to help his wife Erin and children Leni and Eli, aged 7 and 10, navigate this time which will be difficult emotionally and financially.
Information about his celebration of life will be available shortly. In the meantime, we ask you to keep him alive always in your hearts and, in his honour, to model the principles of kindness by which he lived.
