Raising Funds To Help Desiree, Wyatt and Aaron
Donation protected
Mike and Des are carrying some pretty heavy stuff right now.
I am Desiree's sister and want to help them out as much as possible along with the rest of our family. Our parents, Sue and Francis. Siblings, Diona and Family, along with Jeremiah and family.
Mike and Desiree and their two sons, Wyatt and Aaron, could use your help right now. The first thing Des said to me when I offered to help do this was, " I don't want to burden anyone" That is how Mike and Des live their lives.
Let's lift them up and support them together as a family and community. Let's hold them up by doing whatever it is we can do. A hug, a word of kindness, an extra dollar or two, a meal, even a shoulder to cry on if needed.
In early September 2022, Mike went in to have some testing as he was not feeling well. The Dr.s found a mass in his lungs and did a biopsy that returned benign. The doctor wanted more testing because the PET scan still showed abnormalities, so the next test was a bone biopsy.
On September 15th, Mike was to have his bone biopsy. He went to the ER on September 14th with back pain and could barely move. The doctor could not find anything wrong and believed it had to do with what was happening inside of him. They couldn't do the procedure because his heart rate was all over the place. They did another scan and found fluid in his lungs, so they kept him in the hospital overnight.
Mike stayed in the hospital a couple more days, and on September 19th, they were going to put a plurex tube in so Des and Mike could empty it themselves to keep the fluid from building in his lungs again. Mike got home from the hospital on the afternoon of the 19th.
They then scheduled another appt with a surgeon so he could go in and get another piece of the tumor in Mike's lung. It doubled the size it was when they first started. It's about 13cm in size now, but the most recent testing was not cancer, so they could still not move forward without a diagnosis.
The oncologist said he could see spreading to the bone, and it looked like he had bone disease from the spreading, but he doesn't know why the tests keep coming back negative. So the surgeon is the only person to see to get a diagnosis.
At this point, they were mad, angry, exhausted, frustrated, scared, And of course, not sure what else they could do... but wait.
On September 29th, they got the diagnosis of Stage 4 Lung Cancer and were to start chemo on October 5th and see how his body responded to it.
Unfortunately, on October 4th, Mike was admitted back into the hospital. They placed a tube to drain the fluid in his lungs again. Mike had a collapsed lung and hoped to put a stent in. Mike did not get the stent on Wednesday, so the hope became Thursday.
On Thursday, October 6th, Mike got a blood transfusion because his hemoglobin was low. At 1 pm, he was to get the stent put in.
Things did not go as planned. They couldn't put the stent in due to complications; the tumor was bleeding. They cauterized it off, and they will start radiation tomorrow, but he has a pseudoaneurysm that is contained right now that they are overseeing it, because if it breaks off, he will have internal bleeding. Overnight he is going to be in ICU. He will start radiation been 2-4 pm.
Right now, it is just one day at a time.
This GOFUNDME is for my sister Desiree, my brother-in-law Mike, and their boys. I am hoping whatever is given will help not only with medical expenses but meals, travel expenses, the time off work and whatever else they may need for themselves and the boys. Hoping that anything we can give will help alleviate some of the daily stresses and ease some mental and physical hurdles along the way.
Thank you all for taking the time to read this, say a prayer, and donate. Let's do what we can to help the Hill family in their time of need.
