Donation protected
Yu Qian, a graduate student who began his studies at the University of Virginia in 2016, working toward his doctorate in physics. At the time of his death, he was working at the Spallation Neutron Source at Oak Ridge National Laboratory in Oak Ridge, Tennessee. Yu was from Gaoyou, China, and was a 2016 graduate of the University of Science and Technology of China.
Yu was a brilliant and remarkable young man, His work at the Spallation Neutron Source at Oak Ridge National Lab was to become the basis for his Ph.D. thesis. His friends at UVA and in the Chinese Christian church communities both in Charlottesville and in Oak Ridge enjoyed his company. Yu was considerate, sincere, loving, and unselfish, he always gave completely of himself to others.
We are raising funds for his family, hoping to provide direct financial support for the family for expenses related to this tragic loss, doing everything we can to help his family to get through this hard time.
This effort is independent of any university efforts to assist the family.
