This summer, Parkview Christian Church will be traveling to the American Indian Christian Mission for a summer mission trip. We will be working to bring the Gospel of Jesus Christ to the White Mountain Apache tribe in southern Arizona through a mission trip of service and love. This trip is called “Mission 2023.” We will be leaving from the church on July 14th and returning on the 22nd, 2023.
We are writing to you because many of you know us well, and you know our heart for ministry and missions. We expect this trip to have a huge impact on each of us, and upon our family as a whole. AICM is a ministry close to our hearts as well, with Jeff serving as a board member there for the past several years.
In order for the five of us to participate in Mission 2023, we need to raise approximately $2500.00 ($500 each) by the end of June for direct expenses, and a little extra for meals and related expenses while on the road. In addition, we will need to raise the additional cost of a plane ticket for Jeff (approximately $350) to head out in advance, for the annual AICM Board Meeting, which will take place as the rest of our group is in transit. We are asking that you consider helping us financially to achieve these goals.
The following are our expenses for the trip:
- Mission cost of $395 per person. This is AICM’s price, which includes food, housing, etc. Estimated travel costs of an additional $105.00 per person (fuel, hotel, etc.) make up the remainder.
- A one-way ticket from Kansas City to Phoenix, AZ, currently around $350.
- In addition, we will also need to raise some extra money for food and other needs (meals on the drive to and from Arizona, etc.). This is not included in the base price of $500 per person.
- Anything above our needs will go to help fund a service project while at AICM. In the past, this has been work along the lines of reroofing one of the dorms on campus, getting a new church building ready in a small community on the Apache reservation, staining and weatherproofing ministry buildings and decks, etc. We don’t know just what our project will be this year, but it will be something that will help further the ministry impact of AICM for the White Mountain Apache Tribe.
We realize that some of you may not be able to help financially. But we ask of you to pray for Mission 2023 and our trip this summer. Please only help financially if you feel led to do so and if it will not hinder your financial offerings to your regular areas of giving.
All funds are due by the end of June in order for us to attend.
