On Tuesday, April 9th, Steve Hein chose to leave this life. Any donation made will support his family in paying for his services. All final expenses will be completed by Emily and Chris, Steve’s daughter and son-in-law. Please make your donations by Friday May 3rd, 2019.
This is prefaced with the knowledge that Steve would not want anyone to make a big deal about him -- in this life or any other. However, he would do anything for any one of us and expect nothing in return. Steve might hate the fact that some of this sounds like boring bullshit, but he doesn’t have a say in this, so here we go. We love you, Steve. *meh *whateves
Steven “Steve” John Hein was born to Steven Arthur Hein and Susan Linette Thatcher on May 1, 1972 in San Jose, CA. He attended Dover Elementary, Campbell Jr. High School, and Del Mar High School where he played football and was on the track and field team. He grew up in San Jose and worked at Bay Area tech companies such as HP, TiVo, Yahoo!, Xilinx, Covad, and EBay. Steve resided in Willow Glen until April 2019.
Steve was a devoted father and grandfather who loved his children and grandchildren, fiercely. He would do anything for his family. He enjoyed life to the fullest and always had a smile on his face. He loved to go fishing, hiking, to the Boardwalk, and anything else involving the outdoors. He was a regular in the biking community and was frequently found at the San Jose Bike Party events and Hyland Bike Rides.
Things we love about Steve......
He was stubborn as a mule, and the word “stubborn” should be retired with him in the same way jerseys are retired with their players. He could argue incessantly about the most ludicrous topics, and would eventually back down with a “WHATEVES”. Like an 11-year-old girl, he replaced the word “totally” with “totes”. He detested things like “vaguebooking” and unethical political stances, and treasured things like Mexican food, beer, local San Jose spots, and Carrot Cake Oreos. He thought love and eating from a chocolate fountain was “gross”. Steve loved music and rocked out to the sounds of Mike Patton, Maynard James Keenan, and Kid Cudi. He was an inspirational crafter who knotted paracord bracelets, key fobs, and soldered necklaces for his kids.
The thing about Steve is you either loved him or couldn’t stand him. And if you loved him, he probably pissed you off a few times. Steve… We love and miss you greatly.
Steve is survived by his father, Steven; his sister, Stacey; his children Emily (29) (Chris (33)), Steven, Jayden (14), and Camren (11); and grandchildren Kaylyn (6), Abigail (5), and Henry (5 months). He is predeceased by his mother Susan (1985).
A gathering will be held, in his honor, on
Friday, April 19th from 2-6pm at the
