Raising Funds for Ruby’s Vet Bills

Hi, my name is Kat. A little over 4 and half years ago I was in the darkest place of my life and made the spontaneous decision to get a cat in an effort to give me something to live for. Over 4 years later I’m here because of Ruby. She saved me when I was at my lowest and now I need to save her.

The week before thanksgiving Ruby fell incredibly ill, I rushed her to a emergency vet hospital in Brooklyn where she stayed for 4 days, she was life threateningly anemic with no known cause, she received numerous blood transfusions and testing. When discharged I was told the hospital had done all they could and that the next steps were to take her for a bone marrow test at an Internal Medicine hospital. She underwent another several rounds of blood transfusions there and testing. They finally now have a diagnosis but her journey is far from over.

Ruby has been diagnosed with primary IMHA, a disease where her body creates antibodies that attack her own red blood cells. She is currently fighting for her life and on a potential treatment path. She’s fighting hard, but while the doctors are waiting to see if the medication treatment takes and her oxygen levels in her blood return to non life threatening levels she will need multiple blood transfusions over the coming weeks to stay alive. I’ve already spent about $15k in vet bills this far to get a diagnosis and I’m struggling to make sure she gets the treatment she needs to beat this. I can’t lose Ruby because I didn’t try hard enough to get her the treatment she needs. Ruby has added so much joy to my life and those around me and I need to give her that joy back. Any help would be greatly appreciated to help save her.
