Raising Funds for Raven
Hello Everyone
This is so out of character for me to reach out for help. I am the proud owner of Raven, my black beauty with the most gorgeous green eyes. She was just recently diagnosed with carcinoma (cancer) on her liver. My cat and my friends are my family. I'd be lost without her. Raven displayed no signs of not feeling well and acting very normally. The growth was discovered by my traveling vet because I was unable to take her to my vet due to a serious personal injury.
I am a 70 year old senior living alone and living only on social security. I recently lost my part time job. This bad news was extremely devastating for me to digest. This is enormously challenging for me to handle alone without the financial and emotional support from friends. I know, and those of you out there with pets, know how heartbreaking this could be and as pet owners we will go to great lengths to ensure our pets get the best care available. With limited funds and the recent loss of my job it has been extremely difficult for me to move ahead without financial assistance to help me save Raven.
After xrays and an ultrasound I met with Dr. Pond at Central Veterinary Hospital in North Haven. He told me that in order to find out if the tumor has affected other organs, he would need to surgically go in to see what can be done. I told him this has been a hardship for me with limited income and I would deeply appreciate any discounts his hospital could provide. Later that day an estimate was emailed to me. Even with the discount, the surgery will cost me $5,000. With the financial assistance from friends and what I could afford, I have raised $2,675!!! Thank you God and my absolutely wonderful friends. I knew what to expect being a pet owner and those of you with pets know how expensive it is to maintain their health. This surgeon saved the life of my male cat years ago with the same exact problem so I deeply trust and respect him.
I am reaching out to several organizations that can provide financial aid to senior pet owners who are living on limited income. There are grants available but only to those who qualify. I'm waiting to see if I meet the criteria.
I would deeply appreciate any amount of money you could afford to donate to my Raven. It doesn't matter the amount. What matters is the thought, kindness and concern you have for us.
I will pay this forward.
Thank you my friends,
Sally and Raven
