Welcome to Rose Cat Rescue
Rose Cat Rescue is a small, independent, foster-based registered charity based in Hatfield, Hertfordshire, supporting cats and kittens across Hertfordshire and surrounding areas.
Our mission is simple:
Rescue. Rehome. Love.
We rescue, rehabilitate and rehome stray, abandoned, unwanted and surrendered cats and kittens, as well as cats born outdoors who need our help.
Every cat that comes into Rose Cat Rescue is treated as an individual. Whether they need urgent veterinary treatment, time to learn to trust people, somewhere safe to raise their kittens, or simply a warm bed and a fresh start, we give them the time, care and support they need.
What we stand for
Welfare always comes first.
We believe that every cat deserves safety, kindness, appropriate veterinary care and the opportunity to live a happy and secure life.
Our work isn’t simply about taking cats in and finding them homes. We aim to tackle some of the reasons cats end up needing rescue in the first place.
Neutering is a huge part of what we do. We work to prevent unwanted litters, support the neutering of stray and outdoor cat populations and, wherever possible, help break the cycle that results in more kittens being born without secure homes.
Cats coming through the rescue receive the veterinary care they need, which can include neutering, vaccination, microchipping, flea and worm treatment and any additional medical treatment required.
The right home, not the quickest home
We carefully match our cats and kittens with suitable forever families.
Our adoption process includes an application, suitability checks and a home check. This isn’t about making adoption difficult — it’s about making sure that each cat goes to a home where their individual needs can be met for the rest of their life.
We match on personality, needs and suitability — not simply appearance or colour.
Sometimes that means kittens need to be adopted in pairs or into a home with another suitable young cat. Some cats need quiet homes, some need to be the only pet, and others thrive with feline company.
There isn’t one home that’s right for every cat.
Fostering saves lives
Rose Cat Rescue is foster-based, which means our foster carers are an incredibly important part of the rescue.
They provide temporary, safe and loving homes while cats receive veterinary treatment, recover, grow, gain confidence and wait for their forever families.
Alongside our fosterers, we rely on volunteers who help with transporting cats, microchip scanning, fundraising, administration, events and many of the other jobs involved in running a rescue.
Supporting our community
We also want Rose Cat Rescue to be a source of help, support and education for our local community.
That includes promoting responsible cat ownership, the importance of neutering and microchipping, helping people understand what to do when they find a stray cat and working with others wherever possible to improve cat welfare.
Rescue isn’t just about the cats we can physically bring into our care. Sometimes making a difference means giving someone the right advice, helping reunite a lost cat with their family, supporting neutering or working alongside other organisations.
Every life matters
Behind every intake number is an individual cat.
Some arrive frightened. Some arrive poorly. Some have never known a secure home. Some have been loved but, through circumstances beyond their control, can no longer stay with their family.
Whatever their story, once they come into Rose Cat Rescue, our aim is the same:
Give them safety.
Give them the care they need.
Give them the best possible chance of a happy future.
We couldn’t do any of this without our foster carers, volunteers, adopters, veterinary teams, fundraisers, donors and supporters.
Whether you adopt, foster, volunteer, donate, share our posts or simply help us spread the message about responsible cat ownership and neutering, you are part of what makes this work possible.
