Raising funds for Nadia's stage 4 Endometriosis Surgery
Donation protected
My name is Niamh and I am raising funds for my dear friend Nadia
who will be traveling to Salerno, Italy on the 6th of May 2025 to seek an advanced and life changing surgery at the EESI , (Endometriosis Surgical Specialist International) for her stage 4 Endometriosis disease. Nadia has been battling this disease for 21 years, which has life altering effects on the body making the most simple tasks impossible. In her case, the Endometrial tissue has spread and grown on her upper and lower bowel causing extreme pain, exhaustion, nausea, vomiting and PR bleeding. This surgery is therefore vital to both Nadia's physical and mental health.
Nadia’s surgery will cost £19,000, which unfortunately she will be paying herself, so I have started this go fund me to help Nadia afford the surgery and to get her back to being the enthusiastic and energy driven Nadia we know and love but most importantly, getting her back to being healthy.
Nadia has been a pillar to our community, volunteering countless hours to Fermanagh Musical Theatre, Enniskillen Light Operatic and BrightStarz, using her talents and passion for the arts and music to inspire and improve the lives of young people and those with disabilities. We want to show Nadia the same love and support that she has given to others over the years by giving her this life-changing surgery.
What is endometriosis?
Endometriosis occurs when cells similar to the ones in the lining of the womb (uterus) are found elsewhere in the body. These cells can grow and change in response to hormones in the menstrual cycle, this can cause inflammation, pain and scar tissue. Endometriosis is most commonly found on the lining of the pelvis (peritoneum) and may occur in the ovaries and involve other pelvic organs, like the bowel or bladder. Less commonly, endometriosis can also be found outside the pelvis, such as in the chest. Endometriosis affects 10% of women and those assigned female at birth from puberty to menopause, although the impact may be felt for life. In the UK, that’s over 1.5 million from all races and ethnicities living with the condition which means it affects 1 in 10 women.
