Phoebe is raising funds for a custom-made Rugby Wheelchair
Donation protected
Last week, we were delighted to hear that Phoebe Gibbons, long-term Chalgrove resident, has been selected to represent Team GB in the Women's Wheelchair Rugby World Cup. We are incredibly proud of this exciting achievement and cannot wait to support her in Paris at the beginning of December.
Phoebe was born with Cerebral Palsy as a result of damage to the brain during birth. This affects all 4 of her limbs as well as her balance and speech.
Phoebe attended Chalgrove Primary school before moving to Lord Williams School, where she achieved 8 GCSES and 3 A levels. Phoebe now works part-time as the Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Co-ordinator at a local charity and is also self employed delivering disability awareness sessions.
A fun fact, Phoebe is an avid West Ham United supporter.
For those who may be unaware, Wheelchair Rugby is a dynamic and competitive sport that is rapidly growing in popularity. Phoebe is a member of Stoke Mandeville Maulers which is a local team and has experience of playing across the country as well as abroad. Phoebe plays the sport with passion and determination and believes it has positively changed her life.
In order for Phoebe to perform at her absolute best, it is vital she has access to the peak equipment this sport requires. A custom-made rugby wheelchair costs £10,000. Any donation made to Phoebe would be greatly appreciated by her and her wonderful family.
Thank you so much in advance and we wish all the luck in the world to Phoebe and the Women's GB Team in Paris later this year. X
