Raising Funds for Jeff Nehring

Donation protected

Jeff Nehring AKA "Nobody" was the legendary singer for the 90's bands Los Marauders and The Rough Housers. He was a huge influence on many local musicians and was well known for his outrageous stage personality. In his everyday life though, Jeff came to be known as a guy with a big heart and a willingness to go over the top to help others. He worked at the University laundry for 20 years and what many musician friends don't know about is the number people whose lives were changed and made better through the kindness, compassion, and dedication he displayed at his job.
Jeff was also an excellent boxing coach and was responsible for getting a number of amateur and professional boxers their start. He was one of the founders of ICOR boxing and played a role, along with co-founder Adam Pollack, in getting the state of Iowa to recognize women's boxing.
Most people are aware that Jeff has struggled with epilepsy and Parkinson's for a long time. This has caused him to miss a lot of work over the years. Recently, he was also missing work because of stomach issues. On May 2nd, he went to the emergency room because of severe abdominal pain and was diagnosed with stage 4 colon cancer that had moved into his liver. He had to have emergency surgery and is still recovering. He will soon start chemotherapy and eventually radiation, then back again to chemotherapy. Because of missing so much work earlier, he has no more medical leave time, which will mean he will have to pay for his own medical insurance until his long term disability benefits go through. This may take up to six months. Losing his coverage would be disastrous for both Jeff and his kids.
If you are a person who was influenced by, or helped by Jeff, please consider donating anything you can to help him get through this period. It would be much appreciated.

UPDATE - We put a goal of 5,000 dollars on this fundraiser because we were afraid that the actual amount Jeff would need to get through this period might seem like an unattainable amount, but it looks like we will eventually pass the 5,000 dollar mark. In truth, the amount Jeff might need goes well beyond that number so if you are inclined to donate please know that it certainly is still needed and appreciated.
