Raising funds for Air Ambulance and EDAN Lincs
Donation protected
Cohort 36 are Lincolnshire Police's newest intake of police officers. Before going operational, they go through a 23 week period of classroom/practical based training. Alongside this training, Cohort 36 are going on a fundraising journey for the duration of the 23 weeks to raise money for the Lincs and Notts Air Ambulance Service and EDAN Lincs.
Lincs and Notts Air Ambulance is a charity that provides 24/7 emergency medical services by helicopter, they aid those in need of critical care in remote areas. They receive no government funding and rely solely on donations, yet they require 10m per year to remain operational.
EDAN Lincs is a charity based in Lincolnshire that provides support and refuge accommodation for victims of domestic abuse, including children. They provide a safe space, counselling and support to those vulnerable individuals, allowing them to escape dangerous situations and rebuild their lives. Last year EDAN Lincs helped over 13,000 people.
The cohort plan to fundraise for the chosen charities in a number of ways:
EDAN Lincs Active Challenge - In April, members of the cohort are participating in a number of varied races in Lincolnshire, including 10k and half marathon.
Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge - In June, the cohort are participating in the Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge. This is a 24-mile (38.6km) round trip hike, and includes 1585m (5200ft) of ascent and is set to be completed in under 12 hours.
The cohort are also fundraising by holding smaller activities such as bake sales throughout the 20 weeks.
Cohort 36 have put a lot of time and effort into arranging/planning this fundraising journey, and will be putting in further effort to train for and participate in the activities listed, all alongside their training and personal life commitments. We are doing everything we can to support these charities as we strongly believe in what they do, and any funds/support that we can receive will be greatly appreciated. We thank everyone for their support in advance :)
