Raising Funds For a Displaced Divorcee
Hello,
I’m Zakiyyah Muhammad. I’m raising money for my friend, Solace, who is going through a tough time physically, emotionally, spiritually, and financially.
She arrived in New Haven two years ago after her initial displacement from New York to Connecticut while going through her divorce. She’s once again displaced in CT and seeking shelter. I’m raising funds to help her secure an apartment, buy food, supplies, and furniture. She also has medical bills to cover.
A letter from Solace (Robin):
Hello there. I hope all is well. As you may know- I have recently divorced after 26 years of marriage. It has been a rollercoaster ride trying to heal while finishing the divorce procedures. With little income- it has been increasingly more difficult to get the fresh start I need during this Covid-19 pandemic.
I am writing you to ask for your support in securing a living space as I am homeless. It is not easy for me to share this or ask for help. After working most of my life and raising 4 children- now at 60 years of age- attempting to put the pieces together has been trying.
But- I’m determined to raise $6,000 to finally have a place for me. This will cover my security deposit and first few month’s rent. If for some reason my GoFundMe link isn’t working, my Venmo is solacemoonrobin.
Anything you can give will go a long way. Feel free to pass this along. It will help tremendously. As always- thank you for your time and support!
Best,
Robin Ellington
