"They Beyond the Moon" is an existential dark comedy that explores the quest for meaning in a senseless world. When an isolated man, fleeing from his life, receives a brain cancer diagnosis at a crossroads, he seeks to find purpose with the help of his neighbor and an old childhood friend: the moon.

THE DIRECTOR:

Hi! I’m Elias Polansky, a screenwriter graduating from DePaul University. I have loved film for as long as I can remember—from acting in my sister’s shorts at eight years old, to being a core member of my high school's program. Each experience has led me to where I am today. I have worked as a Director of Photography, Writer, Gaffer, Grip, Assistant Director, and more. Through these roles, I have gained a deeper understanding of the value of every aspect of the art form.

I take pride in wearing my inspirations on my sleeve, drawing influence from my idols such as Charlie Kaufman, the Coen Brothers, Spike Jonze, and Kristen Johnson. I appreciate the interconnectedness of humanity and the beauty in the absurdity of life. With your help, I hope to bring these themes to life in a unique way!

My team and I are confident that this film is special, and regardless of the fundraising specifics, we will find a way to bring this project to life.

SPECIFICS:

We aim to raise $3,000 for this project. The funds will be allocated towards paying actors, funding the claymation aspects of the film, providing meals for the cast and crew, and enhancing the production design and cinematography.

Producing a film at this scale isn't easy. Our production team has experience working on many large and complex productions with budgets ranging from $300 to $30,000.
