Raising for Rick!
Donation protected
In June 2019 Rick Trevino (my Dad) suffered three strokes over a 4 day period. One of the types of stroke he had was called Wallenberg's Syndrome. I drove to the hospital alone that morning in traffic wondering, Is this the last time I am going to see my dad alive. It was by far the worst feeling on the planet. Throughout this year of recover, so much of it has been because of the selfless love of my mom , God and because of so many around us who have helped and prayed for him. Now one year later, My Dad has made incredible progress. He can talk, eat, swallow, intentionally move both sides of his body and engage in everyday life with the help of my Mom and Brother. Throughout his recover there have been a handful of items that have helped aid in his recover and have been covered by insurance (wheelchair, walkers, leg brace, etc.). My Dad deserves to get out there, and continue to live continue his therapy out in the real world. He was the most active healthy person I know, He walked the walk and talked the talk! We would love nothing more for him to be able to trek campsites, the beach or wherever we can safely take him.
My mom recently found an all terrain walker made especially for folks like him, that can help with his recover and give him safety while enjoying the outdoors (which I think is so important for quality of life). It is a bit pricey & not covered by insurance. We know and hope he will not have to use it forever, but that it will help in the time being so he can take his workouts wherever he wants! My mom and dad still keep to their routine of workouts, walks and being healthy (we sneak poppa ice cream and chocolate though). We hope that someday in the future we will be able to pay it forward and donate many of these recover items to someone who may need them too one day. Below is a photo of the walker that we want to raise money for my Dad.
The funds raised would help purchase this walker for Rick ($1250 plus tax), and allow for needed accessories (carrier/cover and a special tire pump). We know there is AT LEAST 150 people out there who my Dad has touched your life, please consider donating $10 per person to reach our goal. We know that the current state of the world has many of us in tough financial positions as well, please post below and say hello and just bless us with prayers if that is all you can give we are SO grateful!!!
