On Saturday 27th September we will be running the Battersea Half Marathon.
We are dusting off our trainers to help raise money for a very good cause. One of our friends and the mother of 2 beautiful young girls (age 7 and 9) was diagnosed with stage 4 Colon cancer last September. Katie went to the doctors with a stomach ache and later found out that she had tumours in her liver and pelvis, and in two lymph nodes.
She started treatment immediately and is on the other side of 2 rounds of chemotherapy and two operations. All have been successful and she is about to embark on her 3rd round of chemo.
We want to help her raise money for 2 reasons; firstly her oncologist has recommended SABR radiotherapy to treat the lymph nodes, but unfortunately that’s not covered on the NHS and will cost £30,000. She is also pursuing a number of alternative therapies and, while she is prioritising conventional treatment, she is throwing everything at it and hopes to attend a 'hope 4 cancer' treatment centre early next year to complete a 22 day treatment plan.
All donations so very gratefully received, and if you fancy it – join us! either to run or for a drink afterwards somewhere (very) close to Battersea Park.
Thank you,
Sahra and Alice
