Leanne's Fundraiser for Suicide Awareness & Mental Health Support

Why I'm Doing This:

On the 20th of September 2025, I will be one of many carrying the Baton of Hope throughout Northamptonshire. This is part of a powerful UK-wide tour raising awareness for suicide prevention and mental health.

This cause is deeply personal to me.

I’ve experienced the pain of losing a close friend to suicide, and it’s a grief that never fully fades.

I’m also walking for NHS colleagues we’ve lost. All compassionate, hardworking people who gave so much, often at the expense of their own wellbeing. Between 2011 and 2021, 430 NHS staff died by suicide, including 51 in 2021 alone (ONS, 2023).

As someone working in this field, I witness every day just how much people can struggle and how much more we need to do to support them.
