Raising awareness for Huntingtons Disease
Do you want to join me in making a difference? I'm raising money in aid of Huntington's Disease Association and every donation will help.
Huntington's disease is a condition that damages nerve cells in the brain causing them to stop working properly. It's passed on (inherited) from a person's parents. The damage to the brain gets worse over time. It can affect movement, cognition (perception, awareness, thinking, judgement) and mental health.
This cause is particularly close to the family, as my Grandma sadly passed away from Huntingtons, and my Uncle has it too. Because my Gran had the gene, there’s a 50% chance my mother has it, meaning there’s a 25% chance I could have it. Later on in the year I’m going to be taking the brave decision to find out whether I have the life changing, terminal disease.
The Huntington's Disease Association is a national charity supporting people affected by Huntington's disease (HD) across England and Wales. HD is hereditary; affects the central nervous system and is currently incurable. Caused by a faulty gene passed through families; each child of a parent with HD has a 50% chance of inheriting it. Through our national support network, publications, local branches, professional training and social research funding we help people affected by HD live a better life.
Thank you in advance for your contribution to this cause, the donation will aid raise awareness for this incurable sentence and means a lot to me.
