In May 2023, our dad was diagnosed with gallbladder cancer. From the first signs of symptoms to the official prognosis, it took weeks of uncertainty before we finally received the diagnosis of this rare and aggressive cancer. As a family, we were devastated when we learnt the news, especially when we were told it was at such a late stage that little could be done beyond palliative chemotherapy to manage his pain. Despite the fear and suffering he must have felt inside, our dad never let it show. He remained outwardly strong and brave, keeping his pain to himself. He never wanted to know how much time he had left, nor did he want to be constantly reminded of the battle he was fighting. Instead, he chose to live each day as it came, determined to carry on with life as best as he could. Our dad was a true fighter, and he fought with courage and resilience until the very end.
Gallbladder cancer is a rare and aggressive form of cancer that often goes undetected until its later stages, making it particularly challenging to treat. Our family experienced the profound impact of this disease when our beloved dad was diagnosed. Throughout his battle, Macmillan Cancer Support was a lifeline, offering not only essential medical guidance but also emotional and practical support to our entire family. In honour of our dad and the invaluable help we received, we are committed to raising funds for Macmillan Cancer Research. Your contributions will ensure that other families facing this difficult journey receive the care and support they desperately need.
Thank you for taking the time to read our story.
