raising awareness for atherosclerosis
16.04.73 - 05.06.22
Our names are Lily and Mia and we’re raising money for The British Atherosclerosis Society after having unexpectedly lost our Dad due to a sudden heart attack last Sunday. After his passing we since discovered he had atherosclerosis and have been educating ourselves on this silent killer. Atherosclerosis is the main underlying cause of cardiovascular disease and for people over the age of 40 and in generally good health there is approximately a 50% chance of them developing this. Atherosclerosis is the build up of plaque in the walls of your arteries which throughout time unknowingly narrows them limiting blood supply to vital organs such as the heart and brain which can lead to strokes, heart attacks and sudden death. For us the hardest part to come to terms with is the fact this condition is near enough asymptotic yet it’s life threatening and currently there aren’t any treatments to reverse it. However, with the help of your donations we can support this charity into promoting the research into this condition. For those of you that knew our dad would understand how strongly he supported and donated to any given charity so we ask you all from the bottom of our hearts to either make a donation or share this page to help spread awareness. No teenager should have to say goodbye to their dad especially before his 50th birthday. If your still reading this please see the importance in looking after yourself by taking measures such as: eating healthy, exercising regularly, monitoring cholesterol and managing stress. I will attach some links with further information on the tests you can get and the steps you can take to avoid this condition destroying and taking your life like it did our dads. Thank you for your time and support, if we can prevent one family from loosing a loved one we will have made our dad proud.
