Hi there,
I have decided to make a go fund me page hoping some caring individuals will be willing to donate some money to helping build a fund for my 6 year old cocker spaniel Kendall.
Kendall started showing signs of discomfort a few years ago on the odd occasion which was usually resolved by painkillers from the vet and she would be her bouncy self in no time however earlier this year I noticed her discomfort and reluctance to jump up on the sofa or get in and out of the car had significantly increased. She would be sore for a day or two after going on a 2 hour walk with me and she is still a young girl at 6 years.
I made the rookie error of booking her in for an X-ray before ensuring my insurance would cover a very high cost. The insurance I currently have only covers £1k per year.
I had thought at the most Kendall would have hip dysplasia however the results were that and much worse.
Hip dysplasia left hip - degenerative developmental condition leading to early arthritis in an affected hip
Severe spondylosis affecting the 5th Lumbar vertebrae to the sacrum - essentially arthritis of the lower spine- potential to cause intervertebral disc issues and spinal cord/nerve compression
Bilateral grade 3 medial patellar luxation- her knee caps dislocate when she walks- will eventually lead to arthritis of the knees, but not present on x-ray currently.
the cost of the MRI scan for her spine alone will be around 5k. I also intend on having her knees and hips dysplasia looked into and operated on to at least try and mend some parts of her.
I have been told she will end up needing a lot of assistance in the next coming years and her condition is incredibly rare and in such a young dog.
I have decided to make this go fund me page as a plea to help me gain the funds required to fix and repair my best friend.
