Update:
Emerald Publishing is grateful to have the opportunity to deliver a copy of ‘Sensory Penalities: Exploring the Senses in Spaces of Punishment and Social Control’ to every prison library in England and Wales. The authors of 'Sensory Penalties' originally set up a GoFundMe page to achieve their goal, however, Emerald has decided to cover the costs, working alongside Bang Up Books for distribution. The money originally raised will be donated to Prisoners’ Education Trust.

Hi, we are Kate and Jason and we are hoping to raise the amount of £3200 in order to send a copy of the book Sensory Penalities: Exploring the Senses in Spaces of Punishment and Social Control to the prison libraries of the 122 prisons in England and Wales. The money raised will cover the cost of purchasing the books from Emerald Publishing (at half price) and the p&p to each of the 122 prisons.
Imprisonment is a visceral experience, and the sensory nature of that is often missing from discussions of the prison. The book itself explores prisons, sites of confinement and punishment through this lens. We hope that providing this knowledge to those in prison will allow them a greater understanding of how scholarship on their experiences is developing. Secondly, and most importantly, we want to say thank you to all those inside who have helped us with our research and whose voices have been central to the accounts discussed in the book. We cannot (unfortunately) supply books to all of the countless people, in the varying projects, from differing countries, who gave of their time and experience in the development of the work in the book. However, we want to pay something back to those who participate, talk to us, and help us to tell others about what the reality of imprisonment is like. Hopefully this can go some way to saying that thank you.
The GoFundMe account will be closed after the total is reached and the monies paid to Emerald Publishing to cover the costs of books and posting. The authors here will not receive any of the monies raised. In the event of costs being less than stated here, any leftover monies will be donated to The Prison Education Trust (https://prisonerseducation.org.uk/)
